This series contains the papers of the Welsh Regional Hospital Board and its successor, the Welsh Hospital Board. The series includes minutes of the board and its committees, registered files dealing with policy and day-to-day activities (including correspondence with hospital management committees), unregistered papers of senior officials, various annual and ad-hoc reports, annual statements and summaries of capital and revenue expenditure, final accounts and building programmes.

Arrangement
The minutes of the board and its committees (BD 18/1-BD 18/3) were, with some exceptions, numbered sequentially in one series as each meeting was minuted. Up to December 1955 they were bound together in sequence but after that date they were bound according to provenance, whilst maintaining a single sequential numbering. The minutes of some committees were numbered in sequences of their own, whilst others were numbered afresh at each meeting.
