Papers of Thomas Farrer of Farnley, near Leeds, and his brother Samuel (jnr), living in Lisbon, both of Samuel Farrer & Sons, wood staplers: including 168 letters of William Ellward, London merchant, to Samuel regarding the latter's shipments of Spanish and Portuguese wools (comments on the wool market, the progress of the Pensinsular and Franco-Russian wars, George III's mental lapses and his anticipated death, etc); correspondence between the brothers and letters from customers; receipts, invoices, accounts current, accounts of sales by Ellward and others, bills of lading, and other papers of the business.
