Description

Despatches from Governor Sir James Willcocks and letters from 'offices' (Government departments and other organisations) and individuals on matters related to Bermuda. Despatches are described at item level; letters from offices and individuals are not, and correspondents and subjects are as follows:

Offices:

  • Admiralty (Land Act 1920, C R Glaser's claim, 'Americanisation' of Bermuda, HMS Charybdis, proposed wireless service, salaries revision);
  • Crown Agents (payments for stores, appointment of a colonial surveyor, non-receipt of postage stamps, nurses for general hospital);
  • Foreign Office (US import duty on potatoes, US tariff legislation, towage legislation);
  • Home Office (Public Prosecutions Act 1921);
  • Board of Trade (Bermuda and West Indies Steamship Company, Supreme Court Act 1920, towage legislation, coasting trade);
  • Treasury (export of gold coin);
  • War Office (War Department Land Act 1920, administration of the government during the governor's absence);
