Description

Despatches from James Willcocks, governor of Bermuda (September to December 1920) together with letters from 'offices' (Government departments and other organisations) and individuals on matters related to Bermuda sent during the year. Despatches are described at item level; letters from offices and individuals are not, and correspondents and subjects are as follows:

Offices:

  • Admiralty (press reports on movements of ships, Bermuda and West Atlantic Aviation Company, direct steamship service, volunteer air force);
  • Crown Agents (commemorative stamps [2 items], appointment of secretary to Bermuda hospital);
  • Foreign Office (detention of crew of SS Katonah, operations of US tug in Bermuda waters, US 'Around the World' freight service);
  • Home Office (naturalisation of E B Gray);
  • Board of Trade (operations of US tug, Immigration Act 1920);
  • Treasury (Bermuda contingents pension arrangements);
