Description

Despatches from George Mackworth Bullock, governor of Bermuda, (June to December 1912) together with letters from 'offices' (Government departments and other organisations) and from individuals sent during the year. Despatches are described at item level; other correspondence is not, and correspondents and subjects are as follows:

Offices:

  • Admiralty (the Montrose, customs duties, use of narrow channels, cost of living, channels protection Bill);
  • Home Office (military offenders);
  • Board of Trade (the Montrose, wireless telegraphy, Pilot Act);
  • War Office (new government, cost of passages, deputy governor, commission for S Hamilton);
  • Registrar General (registration of 'illegitimate' births);
  • Local Government Board (shooting galleries, quarantine);
  • Colonial Office (appointment of P M C Sheriff);
  • Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (employment for T J Harris, Director of Agriculture);
  • General Post Office (mail service with New York);
  • Royal Mail Steam Packet Company (improvement of Hamilton Harbour);
  • Board of Agriculture (fish culturist).
