Description

Despatches from Governor Sir Henry Le Geary (20 August to 31 December 1903) as well as letters from various offices (government departments and other organisations) and individuals on matters related to Bermuda sent during the year. Despatches are described at item level; correspondence from officers and individuals is not. Correspondents and subjects for offices and individuals are as follows:

  • Admiralty (direct mail service, Gibbs Hill Lighthouse, wireless telegraphy, tax on condemned food sold by auction);
  • Crown Agents (St George's Harbour improvement, supply of seeds for public garden);
  • Foreign Office (ex-prisoners of war);
  • Board of Trade (casualty report for SS Madiana, wreck inquiries);
  • Treasury (military contribution);
