Description

Despatches from Governor Lyons, Acting Governor Moore and Governor Barker as well as letters from various offices (government departments and other organisations) and individuals on matters related to Bermuda. Despatches are described at item level; correspondence from officers and individuals is not. Correspondents and subjects for offices and individuals are as follows:

  • Admiralty (wharf extension, anchorage of foreign warships, route for telegraphic correspondence);
  • Crown Agents (steam disinfector);
  • Board of Trade (amendment of Pilotage laws, forms used in shipping registry);
  • Treasury (sinking fund for debt, route for telegraphic correspondence);
  • Foreign Office (W R Heney's claim against Haiti);
  • War Office (resignation of Governor Lyons, appointment of a new governor, proposed survey, date to which Lyons drew a salary as governor, route for telegraphic correspondence);
