Description

Letters from various government offices (departments) and individuals, most of which relate to the despatches sent from the governor in CO 37/190 and many of which were sent by former Convict Department employees.

Offices: Admiralty, Colonial Agents General, Council Office, Foreign Office, Law Office, Paymaster General, Post Office, Civil Service Commission, Board of Trade, Treasury, and War Office.

Individuals: Siren Engineer William Bate, Cox & Co, Sir S Cunard, Mr. Dunbar, L Ellis for former Assistant Warden Thomas Kemp, MP for Belfast SG Getty, Rev. J Holmes for William Wester, John Kennedy, Colonial Secretary Miles Gerald Keon, Bishop of Newfoundland, Governor Harry St. George Ord (while on leave in London), H D Stewart for former Attorney General Duncan Stewart, former Clerk of Works Henry Heathcote Russell, former Acting Comptroller Henry Trotter, Samuel Triscott, James Wall (regarding Joseph Wall's will), former Principal Schoolmaster Edward J R Willcocks, and former Assistant Warden John Williams.
