Description

Report on the Yellow Fever epidemic, printed for Parliament March 1858, being despatches Nos 127 and 135 of 7 November and 3 December respectively. The report is signed by Commissioners Captain G LeM Tupper, Attorney General Duncan Stewart, Captain R W Clerke, Deputy Inspector John Rees, and Principal Medical Office Charles F Edwards.

The appendix to the report includes:

  • various letters;
  • questions circulated by the commissioners to various colonial officials, doctors, ministers, prison officers, and police officers;
  • answers received from the various officials;
  • a diagram showing 'the daily progress of the epidemic of Yellow Fever at Bermuda in 1856 from 18 August to 31 December… in Boaz and Ireland Islands'; and 'also the daily mean of the thermometer, barometer and hygrometer with the rainfall and prevailing winds during the same period';
  • Health Acts and Quarantine Laws;
  • printed papers relating to Yellow Fever in Bermuda collected by Governor Reid in 1843 and 1844;
  • Report by Principal Medical Officer of the Convict Department Charles F Edwards.
