Description

Letters from individuals most of which relate to the Convict Department and to despatches sent from the governor in CO 37/146 and CO 37/147. Correspondents and subjects covered are as follows:

  • Ann Baker (enquiry regarding Medway mate W H Baker);
  • Major Boyles (requests salary for administering the government from 21 September to 10 October 1853);
  • Thomas Bird (enquiry regarding Joseph Bird's property);
  • John Chubb (hand over of convicts from James to authorities at Pentonville, requests leave extension, superannuation form);
  • James Cole (arrival with convicts on Waterloo, relief of responsibility of convicts intended for the Woolwich, expenses at Queenstown, alleged irregular issue of small amounts of tobacco to convicts, charges of Robert McKee, passage in HMS Boscawen);
  • Archbishop of Canterbury (separation of Bermuda from the See of Newfoundland and of Bahamas from that of Jamaica);
  • Case & London Sack (Commander Pasco's salary certificate);
  • Ann Crawford (requests the remission of convict William Crawford's sentence);
  • Rev Martin Dillon (accepts Convict Establishment chaplaincy, thanks for appointment, gives cause for delayed departure, resignations appointment);
  • Terence Dolan (requests a pardon for convict John Dolan);
  • Dr James Hall (reports arrival, reports end of yellow fever in Bermuda, pension, case of discharged invalid convict McNamara);
