Description

Despatches from Governor Sir Hilgrove Turner and Governor Sir Stephen Remnant Chapman as well as letters from various 'offices' (Government departments and other organisations) and individuals on matters related to Bermuda. Despatches are described at item level; correspondence from officers and individuals is not and correspondents and subjects are as follows.

Offices:

  • Admiralty (Sir H Turner's passage to England);
  • Commander in Chief (strength of the garrison);
  • Treasury (G Sutherland's suspension as superintendent of tanks, grant of certain escheated property to E B Seon and his wife, escheated property of John W Douglas, rooms in the building belonging to the tanks, Archdeacon Spencer's salary).

Individuals:

  • Mr Guillonneau, Notary Public (attestation of the governor's signature);
  • Robert Kennedy (Sir H Turner's conduct towards him);
  • James Taylor (renews his application)
