Description

Despatches from John Hodgson, governor of Bermuda (items 1-19) and Samuel Trott, officer administering the government (items 20-33) as well as letters from 'offices' (government departments and other organisations) and individuals on matters related to Bermuda. Despatches are described at item level; letters from offices and individuals are not and correspondents and subjects are as follows:

  • Admiralty (formation of a naval establishment in Bermuda);
  • Commander in Chief (transfer of the 99th Regiment);
  • Council Office (Order in Council for the importation of goods in neutral vessels);
  • John Hodgson (reports arrival from Bermuda, bill drawn for supply of lime juice from Trinidad, gives a detailed answer to the petition from some members of the Bermuda Assembly presented to the King in Council for his removal as governor, dispute between him and certain inhabitants of Bermuda, return to Bermuda);
  • Treasury (bill drawn by Governor Hodgson, bill of exchange drawn by R Thomson of Trinidad for lime juice supplied to the Bermuda garrison);
  • John G P Tucker (requests appointment of Lieutenant Governor);
  • Samuel Trott (quit rent of the deceased Samuel Trott Senior)
