Description

Despatches from Governor John Hodgson (1806 Dec) and letters from offices (government departments) on matters relating to Bermuda. Despatches are described at item level; letters from offices are not.

Offices:

  • Treasury (military expenditure bills, governor's quarterly account current, account of the sale of British sloop Chatham);
  • Admiralty (expense of Governor John Hodgson's passage to Bermuda, purchase of land and construction of storehouses for Naval stores, erection of a careening wharf for ship repairs);
  • Council Office (orders in council: John Hodgson's commission as governor, appointment to the Council of Judge of the Vice Admiralty Court Dr William Perritt; importance of Bermuda as a naval station [Thomas Grenville]);
  • Board of Trade (question of the admission of lumber and various provisions from the United States into Bermuda).
