Description

Despatches from Acting Governor Henry Tucker and Governor George Beckwith as well as letters from various 'offices' (government departments and other organisations) and individuals on matters related to Bermuda. Despatches are described at item level; correspondence from officers and individuals is not and correspondents and subjects are as follows and described at item level:

  • Treasury (military expenditure, purchase of coal, bat and forage money);
  • George Beckwith (Advocate General Palmer's request for a seat in the Council and a salary);
  • War Office (allowances of bat and forage money, supplies to be sent to Bermuda);
  • Comptrollers Office (bat and forage money for Royal Fusiliers);
  • Office of Ordnance (Ordnance sloops built at Bermuda);
  • Mr Gordon (number of guns applied for by Mr Tucker, sloops of war built at Bermuda);
  • Transport Office (copper for the bottom of a gunboat under repair).
