Letters received from various government offices (departments), other organisations and individuals relating to Barbados. Correspondence from the bishop of Barbados for 1825 is bound separately [see CO 28/146]. Correspondents and subjects are as follows:

Offices

• House of Commons (demolition of Methodist chapel);
• Admiralty (report of arrival of bishop at Barbados, passage for archdeacon, transmission of seven cases of bibles and prayer books, provision of vessels);
• Crown Agents (introduces Mr Jacob Belgrave 'a free man of colour of the highest respectability of character' willing to be interviewed on matters relating to Barbados, demolition of Wesleyan chapel, import duties, amelioration of the slave code, erection of new churches, uniform for civil officers);
