Description

Despatches from Deputy Governor John Ince (items 1-16) and from Lord Seaforth, Governor of Barbados (items 17-31) together with correspondence from 'offices' (Government departments and other organisations) and from individuals. Despatches are described at item level; other correspondence is not and correspondents and subjects are as follows:

  • Treasury (seeks approval of bills submitted by the Governor);
  • Board of Trade (observations on an Act);
  • Lord Seaforth, writing from London (reply to Board of Trade queries, request for an increase in his salary and allowances [3 items], arrangements for payment of his salary while on leave, request for payment of his passage to Barbados);
  • G W Jordan, Agent for Barbados (petition from Nova Scotia merchants concerning duties payable in the West Indies);
  • General Post Office (Governor's complaints about Captain Lawrence of the Duke of Cumberland packet with copy of a letter from Lawrence);
  • Board of Ordnance (misconduct of Mr Savery the former Ordnance Storekeeper at Barbados)
