- When the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) was wound up, many of its HQ files were distributed to the various research stations and laboratories to become part of those institutions' records, and this series contains both inherited DSIR files and records whose origin was in the station itself. When the laboratory closed most current files were transferred to the National Environmental Technology Centre (NECTEN).
