Description

Despatches from Henry Hesketh Joudou Bell, Administrator of Dominica, together with correspondence from Government departments concerning the Leeward Islands. Despatches are described at item level; other correspondence is not, and correspondents and subjects are as follows:

  • Admiralty: ([Virgin Islands] agrees that it is not worthwhile to raise the question of the ownership of Flannigan's Island);
  • Crown Agents: ([Dominica] recommends W A Miller for post of Colonial Engineer, [Antigua] query regarding wording on stamps, Mr Osbert Chadwick's report on water supply to Boer prisoners [3 items], draft contract for central sugar factory, [Dominica] coastal steam service [5 items], grant of land to J Lowles [4 items], [Montserrat] request for supply of calf lymph from Roberts and Company [2 items]);
  • Privy Council Office: ([Virgin Islands] Order in Council assenting to Virgin Islands Constitution Act, [Leeward Islands] Order in Council assenting to Act to amend the Supreme Court Acts);

  • Home Office: ([Dominica] maintenance in England of Mr Ramage who is mentally ill [2 items]);
