Description

Correspondence received from 'offices' (Government departments and other organisations) and individuals on subjects concerning the Leeward Islands. Correspondents and subjects are as follows:

Offices:

  • Admiralty (Antigua/St Kitts/Guadeloupe: health reports, Naval Dockyard and the service of Mr H Berkeley, Judge of the Vice-Admiralty Court, allowance to the Colonial Treasurer of Antigua);
  • Crown Agents (Antigua: employment of Mr Siccama, treadmill for Antigua; Montserrat: water pipes, debentures, sale of the steamer Union);
  • Council Office (Montserrat: appeal case of Sturge v Field, appeals from the Supreme Court);
  • Board of Trade (Dominica: Coasting Trade Act 1880, Tariff of Dominica);
  • Law Officers (Dominica: powers of the Attorney General while acting as Chief Justice);
  • Treasury (lease of Sombrero Island, repairs to the Union; Dominica: Import and Export Tax Act 1880, hurricane loan, petition of right of Rose Coralie Gaspard, travelling expenses of federal officers, sale of the Union);
