Description

Correspondence received from 'offices' (Government departments and other organisations) and individuals on subjects concerning the Leeward Islands. Correspondents and subjects are as follows:

Offices:

  • Admiralty (Leewards: appointment of Chief Officer of the steamer Union, Captain Hudson and the Union, employment of the Sub Lieutenant Egerton on the Union);
  • Crown Agents (Antigua: proposed lighthouse on Sandy Island, Leewards: payment to the West Indian Encumbered Estates Court, proposed lighthouse on Sandy Island);
  • Council Office (Montserrat: The Burial Ground Ordnance);
  • Board of Trade (Antigua: proposed lighthouse on Sandy Island, grounding of the Union, Act 19 of 1873, chart of Barbuda, levy of lighthouse toll before exhibition of light, Act 2 of 1874 to exempt government vessels from tonnage dues, Leewards: medical attendance for the crew of the Union);
