Order from Hoppo to hong merchants. The Yang-chiang magistrate reports that 30 red-haired barbarians accompanied by a Chinese ship's carpenter sought help after their ship [the Bee], the captain of which was named Warden and the mate Ashe, had been wrecked, and that according to the carpenter's deposition she had loaded her cargo at Macao. Only Portuguese and Manila ships may trade at Macao, all others trading at Whampoa. The hong merchants are to find out when she entered and left Macao, where she purchased her cargo and why she did not enter Whampoa. (Dated: 8m 9d).
