Acknowledges receipt of $50,000 for purchases of tea in the Bohea hills; requests information about the finances of his American debtors; recommends confidentially a formal petition about Customs behaviour to back up the hong merchants' oral representations; promises to send some delicacies; a relative of Consequa's will take over as Canton prefect; the five remaining Hog Lane premises will very soon be vacated.
