Description

Letter written in Jersey by Major Francis Perison, commander of the English garrison and local militia in the Battle of Jersey, fought on 6 Jan. 1781 against a French invading force

Note
[Major Peirson's death in the battle is the subject of a painting by Copley in the Tate Gallery]. The original of this document is in the Museum of the Société Jersiase in Jersey.
