Description

Germany: Prisoners, including:

Trials of British prisoners of war:

  • William Bewscher of Erfurt prisoner of war camp: sentenced to one year and six months imprisonment for assaulting a guard.
  • Sergeant Boyd: transfer to Limburg prisoner of war camp.
  • Peter Simpson and Edward Ross of Stralsund prisoner of war camp: acquitted of damaging a cutting machine.
  • Charles Mercer, Gilbert Brocklebank and Peter Hewitt of Lanensalza prisoner of war camp: copy of judgement passed on the case.
  • Private Thomas Andrews: sentenced to five years penal servitude for war treason, explanation sought for exclusion of Legation representative at trial.

Claims against German Government:

  • Lieutenant A E B Lamble: claim against German Government for false imprisonment.
  • Compensation for lost parcels: Central Prisoner of War Committee circular requesting statistics on undelivered mail from prisoner of war care agencies.
  • Treasury suggestion for processing claims of officers and other ranks against German Government.
  • Proposed exaction of compensation from German Government for injuries to prisoners of war in their hands.
  • Shooting of Private John Hughes: German note stating the sentry acted in self defence.

Herr Regierungsrat and Frau Aline Tecklenburg:

  • Correspondence from Governor General of New Zealand relating to transport expenses.
  • Permission for repatriation from New Zealand to Germany.
  • Transfer of Frau Aline Tecklenburg to sanatorium at Tannenfield near Nöbdenitz.
  • Disposal of property of Herr Tecklenburg.

Transfer of British funds in the hands of the Netherlands Legation at Berlin to the 2nd Army Corps at Cologne.
