Germany: prisoners, containing:

Arrangements for repatriation of German prisoners of war from the United Kingdom, including:

  • List of incapacitated prisoners sailing on the Panama on 1 April 1919.
  • Lists giving numbers sailing on the ships Accrington, Lutterworth, Colleen Bawn, Dewsbury and Stockport bound for Rotterdam in March and April 1919.
  • Repatriation of 304 German medical personnel embarked on the Accrington.
  • Role of General Bruce in the repatriation of prisoners of war via Rotterdam.
  • Alleged ill-treatment of German prisoners of war on a voyage of the Manitou from the Royal Albert Docks to Rotterdam, in February 1919.
  • Letter reporting on an interview with German military attaché, Colonel Renner, stating the urgent need for information on arrival of German prisoners.
  • Note from the German Foreign Office complaining of alleged delayed repatriation of German prisoners of officer rank; response of British Government denying allegations .
  • Letters proposing that since the armistice, Germany should bear the costs of repatriation.
  • Note from the German Foreign Office, dated 24 February 1919, complaining of conditions on board the English ship Manitou.
