Turkey: Prisoners, including:

Major General C V F Townshend:

  • Letter with details regarding increased pay for Major General C V F Townshend for duration of his internment in Constantinople.
  • Letter declining Major Townshend's request for exchange, on the grounds that no special privileges may be accorded to him that do not apply equally to others taken prisoner on the same occasion.
  • Details of cheques cashed by General Townshend and Captain W Moreland.
  • Message announcing the liberation of General Towshend and imminent arrival in London.

Pension of Captain Abdul Osman Omar: letters requesting life certificates for verification of identity.

Inspection of prisoner of war camps in Turkey:

  • New appointments to British section of Netherlands Legation at Constantinople for inspection of prisoner of war camps in Turkey: Jonkheer Groeninx van Zoelen and M Mentend appointed inspectors.
  • Resignation of Jonkheer Groeninx van Zoelen.
  • Report (in French) dated 12 February 1918, with observations by Dr Rousine on the inspection of Russian prisoner of war camps in Asia Minor by Danish Red Cross; contains a printed copy of the Lloyd Ottoman newspaper, dated 7 February 1918 (in docket no. 81933).
  • Appointment of Jonkheer F M van Sprengler to replace Jonkheer Groeninx van Zoelen as inspector of prisoner of war camps in Turkey.

Letters from two Indian prisoners of war, Feride Ekber and Mirza Mohammed Assaf to the Deputy Commissioner of Lahore, concerning the misappropriation of their property.
