Germany: Prisoners, including:

Remittances due to prisoners of war containing:

  • Cheques drawn by Lieutenant Wainwright, Royal Navy, prisoner at Clusthal, Germany, in excess of his Navy pay.
  • Cashing of cheques by the Red Cross for British officers in Germany.
  • Cashing of cheques for payment due to British officer prisoners.
  • Cashing of cheques for American prisoners in Germany.
  • Rate of exchange for payments due to prisoners including rate of exchange for remittances due to American prisoners from the American Express Company.

Scheme by the British Government for the repatriation of male German subjects over 45 years old and who were interned on 2 January 1917 and remain interned. Including proposed extension of the agreement to all British civilians captured after 2 January 1917.

Confiscation of the boots of British prisoners transferred to Holland.

Trial and execution at Guise on 25 February 1915 of eleven British soldiers discovered hiding in the house of Madame Chalandre at Iron.

Alleged murder of British officer prisoners in occupied territory.

Alleged shooting of unwounded prisoners by Germans.

German Government proposal for an extension of The Hague Agreement (Convention (II) with Respect to the Laws and Customs of War on Land and its annex: Regulations concerning the Laws and Customs of War on Land. The Hague, 29 July 1899), to: 1) a general exchange of British and German civilians on parole and 2) 'a man-for-man' exchange of British and German civilians.

Arrangements for a conference at The Hague between delegates of the British and German governments to settle questions which have arisen in connection with the treatment of prisoners.
