Description

Germany (British Civilians): Prisoners, including:

Johannes Cornelius Roothaan, a Dutch subject employed as chief engineer for Ferranti Limited, interned in Germany.

Robert le Rossignol, born at St Helier, Jersey on 27 April 1884, released from Ruhleben camp to resume his former employment connected with the production of explosives or other war work. Includes copy of birth certificate

Funds for the maintenance of Lewis Lipschütz (Lipschitz) born 15 April 1861, in the sanatorium 'Herzoghöne' in Bayreuth by his brother C S Lipschütz.

Money for the release of Wilfred Stirling Buckley supplied by Lieutenant Colonel Basil Buckley his brother.

Method of dealing with payments out of funds for British relief in enemy countries and replenishment of British Relief Fund in Luxembourg.

Various correspondence concerning Ruhleben Camp and some of its prisoners:

List of merchant captains and officers over the age of 45 years interned in Germany with the right to release and additions to the list of men:

  • E W Hammon, age 63, Chief Officer of the SS Trebia.
  • George Norval Purdy, age 50, Captain of the SS Pandosia and the SS Trebia.
  • C H Williams, age 49, Captain of the SS San Wilfrido.

Conditions at the camp, including daily rations, payment for dental rations, the delivery of parcels and the supply of blankets and mattresses. Accounts supplied by Captain C Glanfield of the SS Rossall, Mr J H Irvin James O'Hara Murray.

Arrangements for the redirection of parcels delivered to Ruhleben for men who are no longer there, including a list of recipients with the reason for their absence.

Request for information about Captain Charles Brown, of the steamer Vienna, Captain James Adie Tait of the steamer Coburg and Captain David Forman of the steamer Corsica, all over the age of 45 years.

Letters from interned civilians concerning food parcels.
