Description

Belgium: Prisoners, including:

Miss Edith Cavell, English nurse in Brussels, arrested and executed by the Germans for assisting Allied soldiers to escape from German-occupied Belgium: reports, enquiries, and correspondence regarding the arrest, trial and execution of Miss Cavell and others, including Miss Grace Jemmet and Miss MacFarlane, and sentences passed on Countess Jeanne de Belleville and Princess Marie de Croy; also includes several newspaper articles, including article in The New York Times Magazine Section, 31 October 1915, headed 'The Case of Edith Cavell', with a sketch of nurse Cavell (in docket no. 170625).
