This series contains registered files of the Directorate of Rural Affairs.
The files reflect the directorate's responsibility for rural affairs, including rural environmental issues. Subjects include wildlife protection, planning and research advice on coastal and rural development, public rights of way, camping and caravan sites, national parks and areas of outstanding natural beauty, and the Peak Planning Board. Also included are minutes and papers of the Footpaths Committee (Gosling Committee).
The series contains some files which were re-registered into the DRA series from earlier file series, including the CRD (AT 51), P (HLG 131), C (HLG 140), 91808 (HLG 92) and other series of the Ministry of Housing and Local Government. The series also includes files from the earlier KD series (JH 3).
