This series contains unregistered papers relating to the work and organisation of the Ordnance Survey Advisory Board (OSAB), including annual reports of the board.

The papers concern the board's membership, the financial management and commercial activities of Ordnance Survey, the application of new technology to Ordnance Survey's work, ministerial involvement in Ordnance Survey operations, and meetings with the Ordnance Survey Consultative Committee. Also included are meetings of the OSAB concerned with financial structures and targets within the Ordnance Survey; formal guidelines for Ordnance Survey commercial activities and market orientation; a merger with the Directorate of Overseas Survey; a large scale national digital topographical database; the formation of a new advisory body, separate from the board, on scientific and technical matters; and ministerial involvement with the OSAB.
