Description

This series contains the private office files of the Supplementary Benefits Commission. The papers contain the discussions and policies that relate to the transfer of responsibilities from the National Assistance Board, on its abolition in 1966, to the newly-formed Supplementary Benefits Commission and Ministry of Social Security. Specific reference is made to the new scheme of supplementary benefits which replaced national assistance.
