PERSONNEL: Recruitment (Code 35/3): Recruitment of Irish labour from Eire to work in the British aircraft industry during the war. Examples of leave certificates, correspondence on the practicalities of Christmas leave and lists of approximate requirements for Irish staff of various factories and works. Ill health of Irish workers is discussed, particularly lice, tuberculosis and scabies. Dispute with the Irish authorities leading to the suspension of recruitment in Eire is detailed. Correspondence from British authorities about problems with finding lodgings for the workers and difficulties in making certain that the talents of workers' are matched to the right jobs.
