These North and South Wales Circuit, South Wales Division Civil Minute Books relate to civil actions referred from the central courts of common law and, from 1875, the High Court of Justice and heard at nisi prius This series consists of books recording minutes of civil actions heard before the justices of assize at nisi prius having been referred to the assizes by the central courts, and after November 1875, by the appropriate divisions of the High Court of Justice.
The books represent a complete run from 1846 to 1943. The information given is the place, date, the name of the judge, the court of common law (from 1875 High Court division) from which the case was remitted, the names of the plaintiff, defendant and counsel, and the verdict and judgment. From summer 1888 case numbers are given; and later the relevant district registry is also given.
