Description

These volumes relate mainly to civil action referred from the central courts of common law and, from 1875, the High Court of Justice and heard at nisi prius. Prior to 1876 they are records of the Home and Norfolk Circuits. The series also includes some minute books of the Norfolk Circuit (later Norfolk Division of the South Eastern Circuit) in criminal proceedings, 1863 to 1902.

Grouped into subseries for each of the three circuits, with another subseries for London and Middlesex.

The numbering reflects various short chronological sequences of different types of minute book.
