Description

Tithe map of Freshwater (parish), Hampshire (Isle of Wight). Shows buildings (named), rectory, coast guard stations, hotel, lighthouse, windmill, buttery, named open fields, glebe, parkland, plantations, woods, rabbit warren, sand or stone pits, hill-drawing, milestones, footpath and/or bridleway, marsh, waterbodies, spring, sheep wash. Some foreshore features depicted; high and low water marks, beacon, causeway, landing places, chines, cliffs. Scale: 1 inch to 6 chains. Surveyed by Richard Dent, 129 High Street, Camden Town, Middlesex; lithographed by C F Cheffins, 9 Southampton Buildings, Southampton Row, London.
