Industrial land-use: coal mines, chemical works, gas works, gasometers, chimneys, foundries, machine works, bleach works, cotton mills, flax mills, mills, engine house, tan yard, rope walk, smithy, timber yard. Colouring used. Map is part of published Ordnance Survey 1:10,560 map sheet Lancashire 87, surveyed 1844-1847 by Captain McKerlie, annotated with tithe areas and boundaries
