Shows buildings (named), hospital, cavalry barracks, grand redoubt, churchyard, camp ground, woods (coloured), footpath and/or bridleway, railway, waterbodies, canal. Some foreshore features depicted: extraordinary high water mark, low water neap tides. Industrial land-use: kiln. Colouring used. Scale: 1 inch to 3 chains; Sandgate town at 1 inch to 1.5 chains [1:1188]. First class map. By John Adams, Hawkhurst. The date 1828 is given in the title, but the date of drawing is more likely to be c.1840-1841.
