Shows buildings (named), Quaker and Independent chapels, Sunday school, house of correction, post office, market, landownership, lord of manor's allotment, field gates, waste land, woods, waterbodies, bridges, antiquities (castle). Named roads; turnpike roads distinguished; toll bar. Industrial land-use: paper mills, tan yards, brewery. Colouring used. Decorative compass rose and lettering. Scale: 1 inch to 3 chains; enlargement of Cockermouth town at 1 inch to 1 chain [1:792].
