Description

Returned oyer and terminer commission, Kent: mm 2-160, 169-171: held by Henry duke of Exeter, John Prisot and associates, at Canterbury on 5-11 Feb 1451, Rochester on 13-19 Feb 1451 and Deptford on 11 May and 17 May 1451, under commission dated 27 Jan 1451 for all treasons, etc in Kent since 18 July last, except all matters pending before John cardinal and archbishop of York and his associates under their patent of 1 Aug 1450 (CPR 1446-52, 443) mm 161-8, 172-237, 242-350: held by Edmund duke of Somerset, John Prisot and associates, at Tonbridge on 26-30 June 1451, and Deptford on 18 Oct and 4 Nov 1451 and 24 and 27 Jan and 8 May 1452, under commission dated 20 May 1451, for all treasons, etc in Kent since 27 Jan last (CPR 1446-52, 477) mm 238-241: held by Humphrey duke of Buckingham, John Prisot and associates at Tonbridge on 30 June 1451 under special commission dated 18 June 1451 for treasons, felonies trespasses and other offences committed in Kent by Thomas Smyth late of Calais, alias Thomas Smyth of Dover, shipman, and by Richard Lenard late of Bosham, Sussex (CPR 1446-52, 475): jury panels file, with commissions at mm 21, 167 and 241.
