Cavalry Division Part 2.

  • Letters and papers relating to the administration of the Cavalry Division. Most of these relate to matters covered by the Quartermaster General's department.
  • The following subjects are covered: accommodation, allowances, ambulance wagons, application for medal and clasps, appointments, arrangements for the movement of the Cavalry Depot from Varna, arrival of 10th Hussars from Bombay, baggage, boards of enquiry, buffalo, cavalry camp in Baidar Valley, cavalry piquet, cavalry remounts, cholera amongst 10th Hussars, clothing, Cossacks burning villages, court martial, courts of enquiry, death of horses due to starvation, detachments, discharge, drafts, drawings, duties, embarkation of cavalry for Bosphorous, embarkation of cavalry for England, equipment, expedition to Eupatoria including disposition, expedition to Kertch, forage, forges and forge carts, French war medals, fuel, horse blankets, horse clothing, horse harness and rope, horses, interpreters, leave, linseed for mangy horses, manpower, medals, medical, mule train, nose bags for horses, passage back to England, Russian spies, pay, portable forges, positions of squadrons of 10th Hussars in camp with Sardinians (sketch map attached), prisoners, protection of horses, provost, rations, reconnaissance and skirmish with the enemy, reconnaissance by Turks, recovery of Russian wine store, report by Lieutenant General Scarlett of the cavalry's part in the Battle of the Chernaya River, returns, saddles and saddlers, sanitation, servants, shoeing of horses, sickness, stables, storage of equipment, stores, supplies, supply of water, tents, transport, troop movements, vacation of quarters for Sardinians, veterinary medicines, veterinary surgeons, watering of horses and wintering of cavalry in the Bosphorous.
