Description

Administrative / biographical background

In Denmark, the principal task of the Special Operations Executive was to persuade the population to mount active resistance to a relatively mild German occupation. SOE was successful in this although its efforts did not come to fruition until mid-1943. Also noteworthy was the regular flow of intelligence received by SOE, first from Danish military intelligence and then, after the Germans assumed total control over Denmark in August 1943, from the organisation which replaced it.
