Folios 394-395: John Wainwright and Edward Iggulden, Queen Street near Ranelagh, Chelsea, [London]. Both are Captains who were passed over at a promotion of Flag Officers in April 1804 and have asked unsuccessfully to be superannuated as Rear Admirals. They both joined the Navy early and have served in various stations, during the late war Captain Wainwright was Regulating Captain at London and Captain Iggulden held the same office at Waterford where they discharged their duties to the satisfaction of the Admiralty. They suggest it is a hardship to be put on half pay of 12 shillings a day when more junior Captains are entitled by the recent Order in Council to be superannuated as Rear Admirals on a pay of £1 2s 6d a day. They ask for the same treatment as these officers.
