Folios 355-356: Thomas Walbeoff, [Regulating Captain], Poole. Acknowledges the letter of yesterday's date to say the Admiralty does not intend to pay the increased reward to the press gangs, hopes they will allow the payments he has already made over and above the 20 shillings previously ordered as these arose inadvertently and the wording of the proclamation refers to any person. The Admiralty have allowed the gangs the same payment in other cases and so he believed it was their intention in this case. He hopes the Admiralty will grant his request, otherwise he will be out of pocket four pounds 10 shillings.
