Folios 343-344: William [Spurrier ?], Poole. Reports that the Mate of the brig Friendship, Samuel True, was pressed last night as he was leaving his lodgings, even though he has signed the articles of the brig two days earlier and is in every respect its Mate. The Friendship has begun loading for [Newfoundland ?]. He applied to Captain [Thomas] Walbeoff, but the Captain has refused to release him or give a reason. He is not aware of any regulation intended to restrain Mates, or he would have ordered the man to stay in his lodgings after the prescribed hour. There is nothing in the Articles concerning a Mate.
