Description

Folios 425-426: Isaac Wolley, HMS Gelykheid, Hawke Roads. Is enclosing report from the ship's Surgeon on the state of health of Henry Jones with regard to his petition for discharge.

Folio 427: enclosure with folios 425-426. Letter dated 12 July 1804 by John Scully, Surgeon. Statement that he has examined Henry Jones and confirms that he has two ruptures, one as large as an egg, and the other smaller. He has a slight cough but otherwise he is quite healthy and fit for service on a war ship.

Folio 428: enclosure with folios 425-426. Undated petition from Mary Wilmot, friend of Henry Jones, who states he has been impressed into service but is too unwell to serve. He was previously discharged from HMS Sandwich as unfit for service due to two ruptures. His wife has died and he has two children, the oldest 6 years of age, now being looked after by herself. She has a large family of her own and is unable to afford to feed them. In these circumstances she requests his discharge.
