When his agent forwarded his Commission for the Adelphi, he immediately applied to Rear Admiral Rupert at Yarmouth to know where he could join the ship, but the Rear Admiral was unable to help. He then wrote to Captain [?Prater] and the Admiralty to request a few days leave to settle his affairs, but was astonished to receive the enclosed letter from the Captain, which has been forwarded to him at Yarmouth, where he intended to embark. He is now questioning whether he should proceed, or whether his appointment has been cancelled. Awaits directions.
