Folios 249-250: Daniel Woodriff, HMS Calcutta, Portsmouth Harbour. Since his last letter on 11 November regarding deserter Samuel Porter, has received a further anonymous letter giving details of where he might be apprehended. Requests action.
Folio 251: enclosure with folios 249-250. Captain Woodrooffe [Woodriff], HMS Calcutta, Portsmouth, 15 November 1804. Since the letter of last Wednesday, the writer has been informed that Samuel Porter is navigating a vessel for Messrs. Pickfords on the canal between Fenny Stratford and London. He arrives late every Tuesday evening or early Wednesday morning and stays part of that day in or near Pickfords warehouse with the boat. He may be found there early next Wednesday; he will not be there again for 2 or 3 weeks.
