Folios 414-415: Isaac Wolley, HMS Gelykheid, Hawke Roads. Reports that John Dennis, mentioned in the enclosures, has deserted at Scarborough whilst on passage from Whitby.
Folios 416-417: enclosure with folios 414-415. Letter dated 29 June 1804 by Mr. Preston, Sea Fencibles Commander, Whitby. Is enclosing an affidavit from John Dennis, Mate of the Providence, a sea fencible who was pressed into service whilst going on shore to get his dinner and sent to HMS Gelykheid in the Humber. John Dennis is a Shoemaker, married with 4 young children. Requests that he is discharged from service.
Folio 418: enclosure with folios 414-415. Affidavit dated 23 April 1804 by John Miller, Master of the Providence of Whitby, confirming his appointment as Chief Mate on board the Providence. John Dennis is aged 33, 5 foot 3 inches tall, has a dark complexion and wears his own dark brown hair.
