Folios 390-391: Isaac Wolley, HMS Gelykheid, Hawke Roads. Reports that he has been advised by Captain Bennett, HMS Hermes, that one of his officers had been informed by a pilot that he had seen a privateer off the Humber who the day before had captured a brigantine from the Port. He can hardly believe that a pilot would pass up the Humber without reporting the issue to him so that he could immediately arrange for either HMS Mercator, John or Adelphi to go in search of the brigantine. Further reports that there is no cutter in the Humber to attach to the Baltic convoy. At daylight, after the flood tide, he will endeavour to search the coast for an enemy ship and send an armed ship, if necessary, to drive her away from the convoy under the command of Captains Bennett and Mackay.
